Corrigair
Overview
This boat is an excellent example of how all boats should be maintained and presented and is a real credit to the current owners who are reluctantly selling due to a change in circumstances.
The boat sits well in the water and handles responsively as you would expect from a builder with such pedigree.
The stern is semi trad which gives a sociable space along with easy access to the engine compartment and weedhatch area. This is dry and clean and there is rear tonneau cover to keep the weather out during longer periods of being laid up. Although a semi trad the boat has very traditional lines and a traditional feel about her.
The aft doors to the semi trad area have recently been relined in solid oak and varnished.
The Engine is a 45hp Barrus Shire with 2139 hours showing on the odometer. The engine is mounted with an Aqua drive which is ideal for a marine installation of this nature. It is a well serviced engine and provides more than enough thrust to easily manoeuvre the craft even in tight situations. A Vetus bow thruster is fitted at the front of the craft to assist when required and this has recently undergone overhaul and sheer pin replacement. (spares are carried aboard)
The Battery bank consists of 4 x 12v 240Ah Victron energy deep cycle AGM batteries configured in a 24 volt arrangement. These were new in 2021. They provide enough power to run the set up of dual 3 kw Victron Energy Inverters which in turn power all the systems aboard. There is a separate battery for engine starting and 2 for the Vetus bow thruster. Battery charging is by 2 x alternators driven by the engine and the in built battery charging capability of the Victron system (70A).
An Eberspacher diesel heater is also located in the engine space.
A large sliding hatch gives good access into the aft cabin where there are storage cupboards on either side and the main electrical fuse and control panel is located.
To Port there is a small bathroom with a Techma pump out toilet and wash basin which both serves as a handy steerers/crew toilet when boating and as an en-suite for the main cabin.
The large 5ft double cross bed can easily be made up and this brings with it the benefit of decent wardrobe and hanging space for cloths as well as a dressing table and drawer storage.
The character of this boat is very much a warm rustic, old world charm which sits fittingly with the pace of the canal scape outside your window. All the drawers and cupboards are bespoke hand made from solid oak and the beautiful carved barlytwist features run throughout the boat. The fit out has a quality that matches both the specification of the equipment and the build of the hull.
Moving along the boat you enter the lounge, a large open plan space with the diesel stove taking centre stage. Lots of lovely inbuilt cupboards, drawers and a glass fronted sideboard, all made from solid oak. These make use of every nook and cranny for useful storage. There are 2 easy chairs in the lounge and the L shape seating with oak table, this doubles up as a dining area and can be made easily into an additional double berth.
The lights are all LED and there is a good combination of wall mounted and ceiling lighting. Radiators are neatly hidden away behind traditional radiator covers which are removeable for access. There is even a wifi router in the lounge cupboard wired to a 4g Aerial mounted on the roof.
Between the lounge and the Galley amidships there is a set of side doors with opening roof hatches to both port and starboard. These both have access steps (with storage under Stbd). This not only provides good ventilation and light but is handy daytime access to and from the galley. The fact that they re on both sides brings the benefit of access to both towpath or pontoon and canal/river views once moored regardless of towpath side!
The Galley is walkthrough with solid stone worktops and vast storage under. Cooking is by means of a gas Hob with illuminated extractor over and a combi electric microwave and induction oven. There is even a dishwasher fitted for those who don't fancy the washing up! A large Fridge and Freezer is built at the end of the galley giving more space than you would normally find! A Beko washing machine is also fitted under the Hob.
Moving forward you come to the walkthrough bathroom where there is a Cassette toilet. This gives the benefit of both types of toilet system aboard so you are never caught short! A large spacious shower with bifold doors and and heated towel rail which can be 240 operated as well as by the C/H.
Finally the forward cabin with forward facing L shape sofa. This creates a second lounge area in the evening and is a good sociable space during the day as the front doors open out into the well area which is covered by a canopy and cratch. The seating in the forward well and on the L shape means up to 7 people can be comfortably seated! There is a large cupboard/wardrobe which could be either used to stow coats and wet weather gear or clothes. Of course this also converts to another double bed meaning a second sleeping cabin at the opposite end of the boat to the main bedroom both with access to their own bathrooms. A childs hammock can also be fitted over this bed if required making her 7 berth.
There are many other extras onboard this fantastic craft and the versatile layout really makes her a boat to be enjoyed.
