Wooden Boatbuilding Repair and Maintenance

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you Matthew and your team once again. We arrived at Alvecote with a despondency of issues and you not only resolved them all but also restored our faith in the boat and the sprit of the canal. It just goes to show that good service does still exist”

Mr S. Bird – New Owner passing by with stern gear issues.

HISTORIC NARROWBOAT WORK

We also Specialise in Historic Boats. With a wealth of knowledge and understanding on how they should look. We offer Traditional boat painting, with an understanding of fleet liveries, signwriting and decoration.

Recently Ade Polglase has set up a wooden boatbuilding and repair yard on the bank at Alvecote. This area is long established with wooden boatbuilding tradition, just a mile down the canal in polesworth is the site of the former Lees & Atkins yard. Boats were built here for many well known carriers.

In the other direction, just a mile and a half was the Barlows yard and boat docks at Glascote. So it does seem quiet apt that wooden boatbuilding has returned to the area.
